Wow. I can't believe it's been over a month since I last blogged. It feels like forever. I really haven't had the time to be honest. Where do I begin?
The beginning of December was pretty hectic because I was preparing for this inspection and planning my Italy vacation. Not to mention spending most of my free time with Pretty Girl since she was on leave and had nothing else to do. I barely got any video game playing done. Finally vacation time came and we went. We got back early Saturday morning and i'm still trying to adjust my sleep schedule. It's not a big time difference but I did sleep at odd hours and it's taking some time to get used to going to bed early. I've had an inconsistent sleep schedule since Pretty Girl started her vacation. I guess I can blame her for the lack of sleep. lol.
Italy was fantastic. I'll post the pics as soon as I edit them this weekend. I'll probably just post them on Myspace and Facebook. Not sure if i'll get around to putting them up here since I hardly blog anymore. I've got too much going on in life that I find it hard to accomplish all the goals I set for myself. At least i'm getting a head start. I'm taking a Networking class in Feb. I have to sign up by next week and pay the money. Then i'll be locked in it. That way I don't have any opportunities to back out. After that, i've got to study for the exam that accompanies it. That should be loads of fun. After that, i'm going to make it a point to look for another job. This one just isn't cutting it anymore. I'm not happy. It's not living here. It's just doing this job, working for this company and this organization. They are just sucking the happiness out of me. LOL.
Anyway, back to Italy. It was fantastic. The weather was nice and cold. Milan, Venice and Rome were beautiful. I got to see the sites I always dreamed of seeing. And with someone special I might add. I also got to meet her family and that was successful. Thank goodness. I was nervous about meeting the parents but they ended up taking a liking to me. How can I blame them? I am a very likeable guy. =) Her sisters are great and I got along with them pretty good. We spent most of our time in Milan since that's where her family lives but we did take side trips here and there. We took a day trip in Venice which was nice but expensive. A freaking 3 scoop sundae cost us 12 Euros. That's like over 15 dollars. I almost shit my pants. Lucky she was paying. We also ended up lost which wasn't fun considering we just polished off a bottle of wine to go with dinner and had to catch the last train back to Milan that night. We also stayed in Rome for a few days and saw all the historical sites. I was quite awestruck with everything considering I love Roman history. I didnt get to go inside the Colloseum because it was closed, but just standing outside it was pretty cool. Just picturing what it looked like back then. How the streets and surrounding areas looked. St. Peter's basillica did kick our asses though, excuse my poor choice of words since it is a religious institution. There are steps that lead all the way to the top of the church where you can see pretty much all of Rome. 550 some odd steps I might add. In narrow corridors. We took the semi cheating way and took the elevators 3 flights up and walked the rest. After the elevator, we still had to walk freaking 320 steps which wasn't fun. The elevator doesnt go all the way up so that wasn't an option. It was funny though hearing everyone laugh and whine about climbing up the steps. We tried to run through it but ended up nearly passing out about 100 or so steps in to it. That's when the walls started to get narrower and narrower. I've put on quite a few pounds so it was really starting to get difficult. The walls were fairly slanted as well which didn't help my back. I don't even want to get in to the spiral steps. LOL. We finally got up to the top and the view was amazing. Seeing all of Rome from that high was a spectacular sight. We rested for a bit then began the trek back down again which was equally painful. The whole thing took us so long we ended up missing seeing the Collosseum before it closed that afternoon. It was worth it though.
Now that i'm back i'm focusing on work and professional/personal development. I have this big inspection next week and i'm terrified. I have a lot of things I need to work on and get done before they inspectors show up. I am also taking that class I mentioned earlier starting Feb 3rd and ending 3 weeks after. After that, studying for the exam. All while going to the gym of course since I put on some serious poundage during this trip. I ate and I ate well. Her parents cooked for us nearly every night. And people in Italy don't eat light. It's a salad or appetizer, sometimes both. Then 2 plates, followed by desert. I think whatever muscle I had leftover in my body before the trip has been converted to heavy fat. I looked at myeslf in the mirror before my shower this morning and was pretty disgusted. I don't weigh much, but I do look huge. My stomach and face got most of the weight while the muscle all disappeared. LOL.
Anyway, I better get started on some work since I'm down to less than a week before all hell breaks loose. I'll try and post again soon.
