I didn't fall off the face of the earth

As many of you suspected.  It's just a lot has happened in my life and I haven't really had much free time to blog.  Not to mention work has been quite a bitch since the new year, complete with micro managing boss and all.  Welcome to my world.  First off, let me give you the good news.  Pretty Girl and I got engaged Valentine's weekend.  Yup, I popped the question in a quite romantic way I might add.  She came home from a flight and I had the house setup for a scavenger hunt for her to search through her presents.  I was the last stop in clues and I had a pre-rehearsed script and then I did it.  Got on one knee and everything.  So since that day, my world has been pretty much engulfed with wedding planning.  Great googly moogly.  Nobody told me how much time and effort planning a wedding would take.  Someone help me! 

Since January, my lousy excuse for a company sent our big boss to visit from Japan.  As a parting gift, he left us with a lousy excuse for a manager.  His first act, sit around and pretend he doesnt exist.  After a couple of weeks, he finally did the unthinkable.  He started going around in the morning and taking attendance.  He wasn't even trying to hide it.  He simply walked around with a clipboard and a roster of all our employees and checked us off one by one.  The next task was to implement a dress code, then lie that the military suggested it.  A week later, we would find out from the military leadership that no such request came from the military.  This is uber-fantastic.  I love being a part of this team. 

Since it's been nearly 2 months since I last posted, I better give you the abbreviated version of my life so far. 

I can't believe i'm still a Microsoft fan despite buying my 3rd Xbox 360 in under 3 years since my last 2 have crapped out.

And I can't believe despite how flawed Madden 2008 is, i'm still playing that fucking game religiously.

I suspect my fiance' wants to rethink her acceptance of my proposal because of how much I play said game.

MLB 2K8 comes out in less than a week.  I'm seriously hoping it's not as craptastic as last years, or else i'm going to go out and buy a PS3 so I can get MLB The Show 2008. 

Come on think of it, I can't afford to buy a PS3 because every penny i'm making is going to go to this wedding which is in August in the Philippines.

We've considered doing a Vegas wedding this year and not telling her parents then having a grand wedding next year, but i'm not really sure I want my future in-laws hating me before I even marry their daughter.  Plus, that would double the cost of the wedding because flying to the states from here costs a grip.

I'm really starting to worry we wont have enough time to put this wedding together.  Our wedding coordinator isn't doing a good enough job of getting us samples and suggestions seeing that we can't do it ourselves due to us living in Bahrain.  We have to rely on wedding venues, catering companies, photographers and other things who actually have websites and non misleading pictures.  We've actually already gone through 4 venues who were all booked.  So far, it's not looking good. 

I've been taking a beating in poker the past 2 weeks i've played.  Superbowl night, I was down almost 60 dollars the first 2 hours, then made a monstrous comeback the next 2 hours and was up nearly 70 dollars from what I started with.  Then less than 2 hours later, I ended up losing 50 of it in a 3 player hand which saw my Q,10 lose to a guy holding J,6 who went all in pre-flop and caught a 6 on the river.  I felt like punching him in the face.  Nevermind the other guy who called my all in with K,10 and took the rest of my money with a high card for the rest of the pot. 

I took a smaller beating last week when my drunk friend kept betting into my pocket aces until the turn when there was a possible flush on the board when I raised and he called.  I raised him again on the river when the last heart came on the board because I had top pair, but wanted him to think I had the high flush.  He calls and flips over an 8 high flush.  8 HIGH FLUSH!?!?!?!  Who in the fuck calls a large bet with an 8 high flush?  Hell, who fucking bets with an 8-4 with nothing on the board?!?!?!

Ok, enough with my bitterness.  Poker night is tonight and i'm hoping I turn it back to my normally winning ways.  Besides, I need the money to pay for my soon to be live in maid's visa.  Yes i'm getting a live in maid.  Yes I can clean up after myself.  Yes i'm a lazy bastard.  And I hate cooking. 

Gotta run.  Going to attempt to do some work before I head home.  Hopefully I don't waste another 2 months before I blog again.
